Through her work with London Business School, Azure Consulting’s Sue Alderson recently had the pleasure of working with ING, a Dutch multinational banking and financial services provider, on their “Think Forward Leadership Experience” programme. The programme was held in Sydney, Australia, and Sue spent a rewarding two weeks with some talented and eager ING leaders and managers.

In response to the world of banking becoming ever more digital, ING is encouraging 5000 of their most senior managers and leaders participate in the “Think Forward Leadership Experience”, a challenging programme enabling transformational change across ING globally. The programme seeks to raise self-awareness, increase personal ownership and collaboration. At the end of the programme participants conduct leadership ‘experiments’ in the real world, where they try out new skills and make ‘tweaks’ to their practice to bring about change. The programme has at its heart the need to move to a strong performance culture in order to create a differentiating customer experience.

Sue commented, “Whilst the programme has already been rolled out successfully in various locations in Europe, this is the first of its kind in Australia. It really is more than just a training course – it’s a ‘leadership experience’, and demonstrates how ING are working hard to ensure their leaders across the globe are equipped for the changing financial landscape.”
