In September, Azure Consulting were invited to speak at the National Housing Federation’s Young Leaders’ conference in Birmingham. The National Housing Federation represents housing associations across the country, offering a range of support to its members and providing a voice for housing generally on the political stage. Their Young Leaders Conference, which took place at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, gathered leaders of the future in order to give them a greater insight into what it means to be a leader within the housing sector.
Azure’s Sharon Klein made a joint presentation with Kirsty Morgan, from one of our great clients, Connect Housing. The presentation related to Mindfulness and Coaching, and their many links to one another. Together with all managers at Connect, Kirsty has undergone training with Azure to learn how to use coaching as one of her leadership styles, and has since progressed to become one of the two qualified internal coaches within the organisation, gaining the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring from Azure. She is also a strong advocate of mindfulness and its benefits, having practised it for many years. During the presentation, everyone took part in a three minute meditation and heard more about the common leadership challenges that both coaching and mindfulness can help with. For many of the participants, it was the first time they had heard how these techniques can help them in their everyday working lives, and many were pleasantly surprised to see how the two can be used together as an extremely powerful developmental tool!
