Paula J Jones – Coach and Learning Specialist

I am passionate about helping people to learn and flourish through coaching and personal learning and development.  My career in teaching, learning and development began almost three decades ago working with apprentices, assessing and verifying against NVQ standards and more latterly coaching and developing senior leaders and managers and facilitating development programmes and peer learning sets.

People and Organisational behaviours fascinate me.   I have been a practicing trained coach for the last decade and gained the ILM Level 7 Executive Coach certificate in 2017.  I have experience of coaching senior leaders in the public sector, Headteachers and CEO’s of partnering organisations.

My coaching style is one of high challenge and support.  I take a relational approach ensuring mutual kindness and respect, inviting trust, in a non-judgmental way.  I have a curious mindset and apply Gestalt coaching approaches.  I challenge my coaching clients aiming to raise their self-awareness by noticing and relaying behaviours and patterns.

I have recently become accredited as a EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council) senior coach practitioner. I am aligned to their code of conduct and ethics and ensure this is deeply embedded in my coach practice, applying vigilance and integrity.  I regularly review my approach through coaching supervision and CPD.

I have worked in the public sector for almost three decades at both Bradford and Kirklees Council’s in a variety of learning and development and management roles.

I enjoy 1-1 coaching, designing, and facilitating personal skills development workshops plus leadership and management development programmes, such as Emotional Intelligence and Coaching as a Leadership Style.  I have supported many teams and services in local government, from children’s and adults services, parking enforcement officers, Street cleaners, highways operatives, housing officers, parks and gardeners teams, procurement, IT and regeneration teams to name but a few.

I have managed a small team of learning and development officers, who were influential in supporting the workforce to achieve key projects and ambitions.   I apply a situational leadership style, where I adapt my approach to suit the task and outcome required.   I strive to support individuals, ensuring they have appropriate support whilst empowering them and ensuring their perspective is valued.

I am a wife and Mum to two teenagers and enjoy an outdoor lifestyle living in the West Yorkshire countryside, where I practice mindful walks and recharge.
