Gill Bull – Consultant

I began work as a housing rights adviser in the not-for-profit sector and that focus on social justice has never left me. It informs much of what I do and the tailored, people-centred approaches I bring to all of my work. I am always inspired by the way that people have the resources to find solutions to their own challenges – even when they think don’t.
I worked for many years in the public and not-for-profit sectors in a wide range of senior roles covering consumer rights, corporate governance, public affairs, strategy and operational delivery.
Alongside my work with Azure, I am a Trustee of a UK-wide grant giving charity and a member of the Housing Ombudsman’s Advisory Board.

I came to coaching after a successful career in senior leadership roles in the public and not-for-profit sectors and I believe that my leadership experience enables me to see very clearly the huge benefits that coaching can bring to help people achieve their goals and ambitions. I am convinced that coaching can help people be the very best versions of themselves and see challenges with a new perspective. I know that everyone has the potential in them to continue to grow and develop and coaching can play an important role. Above all, giving people time to think can have a transformative impact in how they show up to do their best. I am comfortable working with people at all levels within an organisation from newly qualified professionals to senior executives and always find there is more to learn about ‘what makes people and organisations tick’.

My background is in strategy, policy and customer services. I am a qualified coach with a Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring from the ILM. I bring significant experience from over 20 years in senior leadership roles in the public and not-for-profit sectors to my coaching practice. Knowing first-hand what it is like to work in senior leadership roles I am quick to understand the contexts in which people are working and bring a balance of support and challenge to help them achieve their goals. Most recently, before working with Azure Consulting, I was Director of Freedom of Information at the Information Commissioner’s Office.

I have extensive experience of leading large, high performing teams in the public sector in local government and of working closely with central government departments in strategic and regulatory roles. I have worked in senior roles in the not-for-profit sector and am experienced in devising and delivering organisational strategy. I have a detailed understanding of the ways to support and inspire colleagues and organisations as they navigate change and become even more customer focused.
