In an increasingly uncertain and volatile business climate, senior leaders and executives are now more than ever in need of support and assistance with strategic direction, leading teams and organisations, and a host of other complex and challenging issues.
Coaching or mentoring can be extremely effective ways to help senior managers overcome such difficulties along with the loneliness of ‘being at the top’. More and more organisations are in fact recognising this, including Microsoft who are seeing the benefits of coaching their managers to help them adopt a growth mindset and deal with such challenges. At Azure, we are huge advocates of this approach!
Other advocates include Lynn Morrison, Richard House and Linda Rhodes, the three most recent achievers from our ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring programme. Each of them wanted to gain their qualification for slightly different reasons, including to provide the skills that would help deliver senior HR support to clients, and to provide credibility when establishing a coaching and consultancy business. What united them was their passion for developing leaders, their unbounding energy and enthusiasm on the programme, and the hard work they put in to gain their qualifications (which included 20 hours of real coaching and mentoring).
